eBay Travel - No longer just a great place to unload your used books, you can now find great travel items too. Just be
careful about those items that sound too good to be true. And, always check the feedback before bidding.
Hotwire - Hotwire is similar to Priceline.com in that you don't know the airline, flight times, or hotel
that you book. However, unlike Priceline, you can see the price. By keeping the airline or hotel anonymous, they are often able to offer deals that are below published prices. Since these companies use
Hotwire to sell off excess inventory, the deals often become better as you get closer to the travel date.
Priceline - Priceline is
much different than your run-of-the-mill travel site. Here you name your price for flights and hotels. After a few minutes you are notified
if your price is accepted or not. Airlines and hotels use Priceline to unload their extra inventory at very discounted rates.
The problem is that you cannot pick your exact flight time or specific hotel. So, for example, this might not
be the best place to buy a flight for a quick weekend getaway, but may be a good idea for a long trip where the flight times do not matter as much.
For hotels, the opposite is true. You might not care much about the hotel if you're only there for a day or two, but for an
extended stay you may be better off selecting exactly where you want to stay.
SkyAuction.com - Bid on flights, hotel rooms, cruises, and vacation
packages, all auctions have an opening bid of only $1. Deals can be found but be sure to check for any surcharges which are typically located at the bottom of each item.
